Dr. Dorcas ‘Sumbo’ Ajanlekoko was born and raised in Lagos Mainland, Nigeria, with family roots in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. She completed her primary and secondary education in Lagos before traveling abroad to further her studies in Human Services and Social Work. Her passion for helping individuals and families led her into a lifelong career dedicated to behavioral health, child welfare, and community support.

She obtained a Certificate in Human Services Studies and an Associate of Applied Science degree from Anne Arundel Community College, Maryland USA. She later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Bowie State University. Dr. Dorcas continued her academic advancement at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, where she obtained a Master of Social Work degree with concentrations in Clinical Practice, Management, Community Organization, and Mental Health specialization.

With over 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Dorcas has worked extensively with children, families, vulnerable adults, and underserved communities. She has provided care for geriatric patients, individuals with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, abused and neglected children, delinquent youth, and individuals with special needs. Her work has focused on strengthening families, promoting safety, and supporting emotional and behavioral stability.

Dr. Dorcas has served in various government and human service agencies including the Department of Juvenile Services, Department of Social Services, Child and Family Services Agency, and Psychotherapeutic Rehabilitation Services. She has facilitated foster care placements, kinship care, reunification, adoption services, and housing support programs for vulnerable populations.

She is a licensed Master Social Work practitioner specializing in Clinical Mental Health Therapy. Her expertise includes behavioral intervention, family support, crisis management, casework services, and child protective investigations. She has also worked in intake and screening divisions, ensuring timely intervention and protective services for children and families.

Beyond her professional career, Dr. Dorcas has served as a Senior Pastor and community leader, supporting women, families, and youth through mentorship and outreach programs. She also received an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Christian Leadership and continues to provide guidance that integrates emotional wellness, personal growth, and community empowerment.
